How a directional bore works
A directional bore runs in three stages. The pilot bore steers a tracked drill head along the designed profile from entry to exit. Reaming enlarges the hole to the diameter the product line needs. Pullback draws the product pipe — HDPE, fused steel, or conduit — back through the reamed bore.
It launches from the surface at an angle, so there are no large jacking pits. Drilling fluid carries spoil out and stabilizes the hole; managing that fluid is what prevents an inadvertent return, which matters most in saturated clay near creeks and the Clear Fork of the Brazos.

Drilling the West Texas ground
Local geology drives technique. Reddish loam over clayey, lime-rich subsoil — caliche — with limestone shelves is the norm here. Caliche and rock call for rock tooling and a controlled pullback; saturated clay needs careful fluid management. We scope the soil before we quote.

How much does directional boring cost?
Bore pricing is driven by length, diameter, depth, soil and rock, permits, and traffic control — not a flat rate. Send the crossing length, line type, and location and we'll scope it and return a bid.
Can you bore under a highway or the railroad?
Yes. Highway crossings follow TxDOT permit requirements and railroad crossings follow the railroad's engineering spec — both often require a cased bore, which we install to grade.
Will boring tear up my driveway or yard?
No — that's the point of trenchless. The bore runs underground between entry and exit, leaving the surface in between intact.
